This website explores the miseducation of black students in Seattle, Washington and the creation of the BSU and black consciousness at the University of Washington campus. The up-rise of black students at the UW was a direct reflection of the muted racism and white ignorance that silently persisted throughout Seattle's history. Frustrated with white ignorance, black student activists took matters into their own hands and embraced their personal definition of black consciousness to fight for social justice and self liberation.
